Welcome to the Class Website 

Dear Parents and Students:

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! I am delighted to have your child in my English 9 class. The freshman year of high school sets an important foundation for the rest of a student's career at Trinity. In English 9, we read and discuss literature to help  us understand ourselves and the society in which we live. We talk about the power of language, and the way authors use words to convey feeling. However, books and words only have value when a reader does the work necessary to extract meaning. Students will be expected to read frequently and reflect often on their observations

Please read this course overview with your student. I frequently refer to the policies outlined in this document, and request that students and parents alike understand my expectations from the beginning of our year together. In order to facilitate parent – teacher communication, please send me a brief email letting me know your preferred contact information. I would also love to have any information you feel will help me understand and connect with your child as the school year begins.  Feel free to include any questions, comments or concerns in that email as well. I look forward to seeing you at Back to School night on Wednesday, September 14 at 7:30 p.m.
